The crash happens, because the unwinder tries to read from unaligned memory and as such triggers the unalignment trap handler which then leads to the spinlock recursion and finally to a deadlock. Fix it by checking the alignment before accessing the memory. arch: Add the macro COMPILE_OFFSETS to all the asm-offsets.c
The include/generated/asm-offsets.h is generated in Kbuild during compiling from arch/SRCARCH/kernel/asm-offsets.c. When we want to generate another similar offset header file, circular dependency can happen. For example, we want to generate a offset file include/generated/test.h, which is included in include/sched/sched.h. If we generate asm-offsets.h first, it will fail, as include/sched/sched.h is included in asm-offsets.c and include/generated/test.h doesn't exist; If we generate test.h first, it can't success neither, as include/generated/asm-offsets.h is included by it. In x86_64, the macro COMPILE_OFFSETS is used to avoid such circular dependency. We can generate asm-offsets.h first, and if the COMPILE_OFFSETS is defined, we don't include the "generated/test.h". And we define the macro COMPILE_OFFSETS for all the asm-offsets.c for this purpose. mm: introduce memdesc_flags_t
Patch series "Add and use memdesc_flags_t". At some point struct page will be separated from struct slab and struct folio. This is a step towards that by introducing a type for the 'flags' word of all three structures. This gives us a certain amount of type safety by establishing that some of these unsigned longs are different from other unsigned longs in that they contain things like node ID, section number and zone number in the upper bits. That lets us have functions that can be easily called by anyone who has a slab, folio or page (but not easily by anyone else) to get the node or zone. There's going to be some unusual merge problems with this as some odd bits of the kernel decide they want to print out the flags value or something similar by writing page->flags and now they'll need to write page->flags.f instead. That's most of the churn here. Maybe we should be removing these things from the debug output? This patch (of 11): Wrap the unsigned long flags in a typedef. In upcoming patches, this will provide a strong hint that you can't just pass a random unsigned long to functions which take this as an argument. arch: copy_thread: pass clone_flags as u64
With the introduction of clone3 in commit 7f192e3cd316 ("fork: add
clone3") the effective bit width of clone_flags on all architectures was
increased from 32-bit to 64-bit, with a new type of u64 for the flags.
However, for most consumers of clone_flags the interface was not
changed from the previous type of unsigned long.
While this works fine as long as none of the new 64-bit flag bits
(CLONE_CLEAR_SIGHAND and CLONE_INTO_CGROUP) are evaluated, this is still
undesirable in terms of the principle of least surprise.
Thus, this commit fixes all relevant interfaces of the copy_thread
function that is called from copy_process to consistently pass
clone_flags as u64, so that no truncation to 32-bit integers occurs on
32-bit architectures.

parisc: Revise gateway LWS calls to probe user read access
We use load and stbys,e instructions to trigger memory reference interruptions without writing to memory. Because of the way read access support is implemented, read access interruptions are only triggered at privilege levels 2 and 3. The kernel and gateway page execute at privilege level 0, so this code never triggers a read access interruption. Thus, it is currently possible for user code to execute a LWS compare and swap operation at an address that is read protected at privilege level 3 (PRIV_USER). Fix this by probing read access rights at privilege level 3 and branching to lws_fault if access isn't allowed. Because of the way _PAGE_READ is handled, kernel code never generates
a read access fault when it access a page as the kernel privilege level

fs: introduce file_getattr and file_setattr syscalls
Introduce file_getattr() and file_setattr() syscalls to manipulate inode extended attributes. The syscalls takes pair of file descriptor and pathname. Then it operates on inode opened accroding to openat() semantics. The struct file_attr is passed to obtain/change extended attributes. This is an alternative to FS_IOC_FSSETXATTR ioctl with a difference that file don't need to be open as we can reference it with a path instead of fd. By having this we can manipulated inode extended attributes not only on regular files but also on special ones. This is not possible with FS_IOC_FSSETXATTR ioctl as with special files we can not call ioctl() directly on the filesystem inode using fd. This patch adds two new syscalls which allows userspace to get/set extended inode attributes on special files by using parent directory and a path - *at() like syscall. Updates for the VDSO infrastructure:
- Consolidate the VDSO storage
The VDSO data storage and data layout has been largely architecture
specific for historical reasons. That increases the maintenance effort
and causes inconsistencies over and over.
There is no real technical reason for architecture specific layouts and
implementations. The architecture specific details can easily be
integrated into a generic layout, which also reduces the amount of
duplicated code for managing the mappings.
Convert all architectures over to a unified layout and common mapping
infrastructure. This splits the VDSO data layout into subsystem
specific blocks, timekeeping, random and architecture parts, which
provides a better structure and allows to improve and update the
functionalities without conflict and interaction.
- Rework the timekeeping data storage
The current implementation is designed for exposing system timekeeping
accessors, which was good enough at the time when it was designed.
PTP and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) change that as there are
requirements to expose independent PTP clocks, which are not related to
system timekeeping.
Replace the monolithic data storage by a structured layout, which
allows to add support for independent PTP clocks on top while reusing

parisc: Remove memcpy_fromio
Fully migrate parisc to the IO functions from lib/iomem_copy.c. In a recent patch the functions memset_io and memcpy_toio were removed, but the memcpy_fromio was kept, because for very short sequences it does half word accesses, whereas the functions in lib/iomem_copy.c do byte accesses until the memory is naturally aligned and then do machine word accesses. But I don't think the single half-word access merits keeping the arch specific implementation, so, remove it as well. Adding it to 'targets' is enough to include the .cmd file.
This commit applies the previous change to parisc, which added the

Recently new functions for IO memcpy and IO memset were added in libs/iomem_copy.c. So, remove the arch specific implementations, to fall back to the generic ones which do exactly the same. Keep memcpy_fromio for now, because it's slight more optimized by doing 'u16' accesses if the buffer is aligned this way. parisc/ftrace: Fix function graph tracing disablement
Due to an apparent copy-paste bug, the parisc implementation of
ftrace_disable_ftrace_graph_caller() doesn't actually do anything.
It enables the (already-enabled) static key rather than disabling it.
The result is that after function graph tracing has been "disabled", any
subsequent (non-graph) function tracing will inadvertently also enable
the slow fgraph return address hijacking.

fs/xattr: add *at family syscalls
Add the four syscalls setxattrat(), getxattrat(), listxattrat() and
removexattrat(). Those can be used to operate on extended attributes,
especially security related ones, either relative to a pinned directory
or on a file descriptor without read access, avoiding a
/proc/<pid>/fd/<fd> detour, requiring a mounted procfs.
One use case will be setfiles(8) setting SELinux file contexts
("security.selinux") without race conditions and without a file
descriptor opened with read access requiring SELinux read permission.
Use the do_{name}at() pattern from fs/open.c.
Pass the value of the extended attribute, its length, and for
setxattrat(2) the command (XATTR_CREATE or XATTR_REPLACE) via an added
struct xattr_args to not exceed six syscall arguments and not
merging the AT_* and XATTR_* flags.
[AV: fixes by Christian Brauner folded in, the entire thing rebased on
top of {filename,file}_...xattr() primitives, treatment of empty
pathnames regularized. As the result, AT_EMPTY_PATH+NULL handling
is cheap, so f...(2) can use it]

no_llseek had been defined to NULL two years ago, in commit 868941b14441
("fs: remove no_llseek")
To quote that commit,
At -rc1 we'll need do a mechanical removal of no_llseek -

would do it.
Unfortunately, that hadn't been done. Linus, could you do that now, so

For an itlb miss when executing code above 4 Gb on ILP64 adjust the iasq/iaoq in the same way isr/ior was adjusted. This fixes signal delivery for the 64-bit static test program from http://ftp.parisc-linux.org/src/64bit.tar.gz. Note that signals are handled by the signal trampoline code in the 64-bit VDSO which is mapped into high userspace memory region above 4GB for 64-bit processes. mm: make arch_get_unmapped_area() take vm_flags by default
Patch series "mm: Care about shadow stack guard gap when getting an
unmapped area", v2.
As covered in the commit log for c44357c2e76b ("x86/mm: care about shadow
stack guard gap during placement") our current mmap() implementation does
not take care to ensure that a new mapping isn't placed with existing
mappings inside it's own guard gaps. This is particularly important for
shadow stacks since if two shadow stacks end up getting placed adjacent to
each other then they can overflow into each other which weakens the
protection offered by the feature.
On x86 there is a custom arch_get_unmapped_area() which was updated by the
above commit to cover this case by specifying a start_gap for allocations
with VM_SHADOW_STACK. Both arm64 and RISC-V have equivalent features and
use the generic implementation of arch_get_unmapped_area() so let's make
the equivalent change there so they also don't get shadow stack pages
placed without guard pages. The arm64 and RISC-V shadow stack
implementations are currently on the list:

Given the addition of the use of vm_flags in the generic implementation we
also simplify the set of possibilities that have to be dealt with in the
core code by making arch_get_unmapped_area() take vm_flags as standard.
This is a bit invasive since the prototype change touches quite a few
architectures but since the parameter is ignored the change is
straightforward, the simplification for the generic code seems worth it.
This patch (of 3):
When we introduced arch_get_unmapped_area_vmflags() in 961148704acd ("mm:
introduce arch_get_unmapped_area_vmflags()") we did so as part of properly
supporting guard pages for shadow stacks on x86_64, which uses a custom
arch_get_unmapped_area(). Equivalent features are also present on both
arm64 and RISC-V, both of which use the generic implementation of
arch_get_unmapped_area() and will require equivalent modification there.
Rather than continue to deal with having two versions of the functions
let's bite the bullet and have all implementations of
arch_get_unmapped_area() take vm_flags as a parameter.
The new parameter is currently ignored by all implementations other than
x86. The only caller that doesn't have a vm_flags available is
mm_get_unmapped_area(), as for the x86 implementation and the wrapper used
on other architectures this is modified to supply no flags.
No functional changes.

parisc: Fix 64-bit userspace syscall path
Currently the glibc isn't yet ported to 64-bit for hppa, so there is no usable userspace available yet. But it's possible to manually build a static 64-bit binary and run that for testing. One such 64-bit test program is available at http://ftp.parisc-linux.org/src/64bit.tar.gz and it shows various issues with the existing 64-bit syscall path in the kernel.
